Music: For My Fame? Or For His Name?

For a couple of months now I have seen and observed new bands that are coming up (what seems out of nowhere haha) into the Christian music world. Although, yes this is an awesome occurrence, there is something that is really catching my attention. So many of these "Christian" groups are morphing into mainstream (I call it "feel good music") bands. I have heard so many of these bands say, "Well, our goal is to reach more people for Christ," or "We will reach the unreachable people", and even though it is a great idea, you cannot reach someone for Christ unless you tell them about the Gospel of Christ! I am not judging or demeaning what bands are trying to do, because it is possible they are reaching people. I just fear that most of us, me included, try to please people by giving them what they want to hear. Truth, however, is not always easy to accept...there is NOTHING comfortable about the Gospel! Christ was beaten, bruised, and spat on for our transgressions. He died a horrible death & rose on the 3rd day. He did all of that for YOU and me. The beautiful Gospel, amazing story of grace! IT SHOULD BE SHARED. In a world with so much confusion, hurt and death...people NEED to hear bold truth. The world doesn't need a watered-down Gospel, semi-good testimonies (ex. how we live our lives), or feel-good music. They need for the Lord to come into their lives & give them peace, love, joy, and salvation. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." As Christians we are called to live lives worthy of our calling...as musicians, we need to use our gifts and talents to reach the nations for Christ. We need to use our music to glorify Him above all, and when we do that, everything else will fall into place. I do not mean to be "extreme," but at the same time we need to be careful NOT to become complacent with the things this world has to offer!
This blog is meant to encourage my fellow musician friends to go hard after the Lord and to live out what Christ has for us! In the end, remember, there is nothing we can do or say to create worship ourselves or to change peoples lives. Only Christ has the power to save. We must simply view ourselves as vessels used to further His kingdom!

My hearts desire: music ministry not industry!

Thanks for taking the time to read my heart on this matter. Love you all! Remember, if you love Jesus, live for Him!

The End Is Near.....

**Hope my title didn't scare you off...I meant the end of a chapter in my life! haha

Well, it's been a LONG college journey and with only a few month until graduation, A LOT is going through my mind. I have learned so much these past few years spiritually and educationally. Lately, the Lord has been speaking to my heart about TRUST. I mean, many...like me....say we trust God with all our hearts, that HE is enough to satisfy anything in our lives. But most  people, like me, struggle with our OWN desires and dreams at times an we have pushed the Lord aside. We only call on Him when we actually need something or when we think He "fits".So as a believer of Jesus Christ, where do we stand with the Lord? Is He the leader, or is He the background?
I believe that we need to be a generation that seeks the face of God. Where we realize that He is our provider, shelter, redeemer, healer, OUR REWARD. I constantly struggle with wanting control of my life.....haha my life? I have come to know the truth that it is NOT my life to begin with. He is the bread of life. He is the living water.....and with the Lord as captain of my life, He will guide me through every decision, every situation, and to the path He wants me to walk on. So do we, as Christians really trust God? Have we really asked him what He wants for us? Are we living a life worthy of His calling? I think you know there are many questions we can ask ourselves about our walk with the Lord, because as humans we fall short of the surpassing glory of God. Good thing though....He has made a way, through His son Jesus, for all of us to have a way to the Father! That is so encouraging and AWESOME. With my few months left at Truett McConnell College, I just have to say, I am trusting, trusting, TRUSTING the Lord with my future. I know that if I continue to serve him with devotion & obediance, seek Him through His word (bible/prayer), and trust Him with my life....only thing I would lose, is probably something worth losing. He IS enough.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog!!
Something the Lord is teaching me or reiterating in my life right now, and I had to share it with you! Love you all. Thanks for your support!

Heart for the Lost

I just wanted to write a little about what God has been stirring in my heart lately. So many times I think about how we are called to be "fishers of men" or disciples for our Lord Jesus Christ. A task that has been given to us that is so simple, but often becomes really hard for us to do. As a human, like everyone else in the world, I know that I have many faults and imperfections, and sometimes because of that, I fear that I am not cut out for the job…but when I think about God’s amazing grace, love, and mercy for all of humanity (John 3:16-17), my mind begins to set aside all fear and a fiery passion ignites in my heart to tell the world of His greatness. We cannot be afraid to share the truth, we have to stand up as a generation of believers who are ready to make a real change in the world. We should desire to offer people a relationship with a living God who was willing to die on a cross to bring them salvation and a life full of purpose. There is an urgency right now, everywhere we look, there are people who are seeking refuge and a Savior, truth and REAL love. They are seeking answers and some kind of hope. Now is the time to be bold and courageous and tell the world that Jesus saves.

As many of you know, I am the drummer of theTJB and I get to travel with them all over, sharing the gospel though the word and music. I am madly in love with Jesus and I am passionate about the calling Christ has set in my life. But it can be so easy for me to share my love and passion for Jesus to a crowd of people from a stage…but just recently I have been thinking, “Exactly how many people have I reached one-on-one?” It’s a question that sadly made me come to the realization that I hadn’t really. I am not afraid to admit it, just really disappointed with myself. I have become so comfortable with sharing Jesus with a group to back me up, that when it came to actually sharing with one person I felt stuck.

Let’s quit lying to ourselves…as Christians we MUST try harder and not conform. So many people just do not care about sharing Jesus anymore or doing ANYTHING for His kingdom or for His glory. Sitting at church and having a Bible just does not cut it! We must put our Faith into action. My desire is to encourage you to start sharing the awesome news of Jesus Christ. Let’s never forget the moment when someone shared Christ with us, and the feeling we got when we found life again in Jesus. So, I have set a new goal to reach at least 2-3 people personally a month. If you are like me, start slow, try sharing to friends and family first. Then as you get more comfortable, share with people who you run into at the mall, play sports with, people at work, or even your neighbors. Let's be a light in the darkness, let’s seek Christ more and more each day…let’s live for Him. --Galatians 2:20

~Thanks for taking the time to read my Blog. I hope you are encouraged to share the gift of Christ with people. I love you all.
